Distribution:
Central and South America and the southeastern United States.
Teeth:
In alligators the teeth of the lower jaw fit into pits in the upper jaw and cannot be seen when
the mouth is closed.
Size:
Alligatorids include some of the largest and smallest extant crocodiles.
Largest: Caiman niger 6 meters in total length.
Smallest: Paleosuchus less than 1.7 meters in total length.
