Distribution: Native to New Zealand but today confined to three offshore islands Size: 50-100cm Diet: Petrel (bird) eggs Current Status: Many populations are threatened due to the introduction of rodents and domestic animals. Rodents are are thought to prey on eggs and juveniles as well as competing with adult tuatara for food. |
