WOOD BORING AND PESTIFEROUS BEETLES Family Anobiidae Members of the family Anobiidae are cylindrical beetles, 2-9 mm in length with
their heads surrounded by the pronotum (Chinery 1993). They include the well-known
Deathwatch beetle (Xestobium rufovillosum) and Furniture beetle (Anobium
punctatum). Larvae usually develop in dead wood and often in carpentered
timber where they cause much damage. The adults are short lived and do not feed
  (Csoka & Kovacs 1999).
