WOOD BORING AND PESTIFEROUS BEETLES

Family Lymexylidae (Ship timber beetles)

Ship timber beetles are typically long (16-18 mm) and elongate soft bodied beetles.There are only three species in this family; all occur in central Europe (Harde 1984).

The larvae of Hylecoetes dermestoides cultivate fungi in the holes it bores and then feeds on it.
