A whip scorpion like Mastigoproctus gigatneus has elongate tactile first legs plus a characteristic posterior whip. The chelicerae are hooked or fang-like while the pedipalps are chelate and prehensile. A repugnatory anal gland discharges formic or acetic acid at attackers.
